                                                                          festooned with blue mist
                                                                          and water drops like pearl strings -
                                                                          baldachin of falls


A Tanka-
                                                                       
                                                                          धरा गगन   
                                                                          ध्वनित शांत , पर 
                                                                          मौन मुखर 
                                                                          जीवन कलरव  
                                                                          निर्झर मृदु रव 




           ध्वनित - resonated                                                  मौन - silence (here silently )                                                                 मुखर  - gushing , chatty                                         कलरव -  chirping, warbling                                                                निर्झर - waterfall                                                    मृदु रव  - a sweet, pleasant charivari

  6. Excellent Kokila. It is difficult to decide which one is better - waterfall as a pearl of strings or the resonating silence....still if I have to select one, I would say the choice of words in the Hindi tanka is out of the world.

  8. I don't know which one is better describing the waterfall...I think both!
    Still I like more the pearl strings of water droplets...it has created a vivid imagery for me..
