READING - A reason or two

"I love my books ,as drinkers love there wine,
The more they drink, the more it feels divine"

Reading is bliss.
This in itself is a sufficient reason to read.
In this stressful, competitive and artificial life, bliss, serenity and calm are  priceless feelings  which we all long to experience. And books are the best and most effective and economic medium to not only attain these elusive fairies but,to have them for keeps.
These fairies once acquiesced, are like elixir for our ailing life bestowing love, joy and wisdom ... forever.

Books provide relief as these are based on eternal situations of life. Life is based on bhav jagat or the emotions and books help us to unwind ourselves by showing real situations and myriad reactions of the characters ..working  as catharsis, providing mental peace and emotional strength.

Books are timeless as they portray the eternal values of a human life. All life originates from an egg and the spark that makes life worth living comes from emotions ...of love, mercy, compassion dotted with jealousy, greed and contempt. Books are imagination encaptured, a painting in words.

Every scientist is a sahityakar, a romantic first.... He feels, imagines, thinks and works.
In primitive human,in animals and in all that is living, feelings are there, emotion is present and that feel, that emotion shapes up an idea which on following turns into reality...

Books are raw emotions. These ripen into sentiments, bloom as words, are plucked from the tree of soul, arranged into life situations and result as books.

On a lighter note first, you don't have to be dressed approh-prihat-ly for the occasion. You can put on your weirdest costume or in your best finery looking all dainty and pretty, but
you will derive the same pleasure from reading. Books are no snobs.

It makes you look intellectual and important ,specially in trains and buses. Not to mention the Romantic aura one feels around a person with a book in his/her hand , sitting on a bench under a shady leafy tree....with calm ripples of nearby lake twisting noiselessly ...(well.. the image on the right is not exact but.. a bench, a person with book and a leafy tree IS there)

It takes you to all those fantastic places where otherwise only a master card of a  brimming account can take!

It provides points to ponder ,something to reflect upon and helps us analyse the situations which the characters experience thus in turn we gain better knowledge of our own self.
Not to mention the increase in our vocabulary, word power and ability to write, ease of expressions ,widening of mental horizons, curbing prejudice and diminishing bias.
Thus enriches life, enhances imagination and provides a healthy, intellectual pleasure by taking us to the wonderlands and never lands,to sunny grounds of happiness and the dark alleys of mystery, high surfs of thrill and in lush pastures of romance, to the pinnacle of intellect and deep valleys of philosophy, to the twisting  rues de`pshyce of an efficient mind and the open, broad avenues of a beating heart ... All in moth smelling yellow pages of books. Still, they ask our reasons to read ?

To reading,to books and to writers!
We are Blessed! :)
